Meet Ryan at the Lochdale Home
Ryan will be 33 in March and looking forward to celebrating it with family and friends. Ryan graduated from Walled Lake Central High School and moved into Angels’ Place Lochdale home 2 years ago. “I’m really happy to be at Angels’ Place. I missed my family at first and it was hard, but I’m happy to be on my own, and to be grown up like my sisters,” shares Ryan. He enjoys his roommates Hugh and Tony and enjoys telling jokes to them.
Ryan has a busy life at Lochdale, playing Special Olympics basketball, and practicing for a big tournament. He loves to read, play video games and most of all draw and paint.
Ryan has taken art classes since he was a young boy and loves to work in different mediums.
“I look at something, draw it and then paint it. I’m working hard on the picture I’m holding. It’s the sky and water at sunset. I saw a picture of it in a magazine and wanted to draw it. It reminds me of something in California.” It takes Ryan a few months to complete an art piece and he likes to finish one before starting another. The painting to his left in the photo reminded him of Cody and Josie Bear, sheepdogs he grew up with. He saw Michael Jordan in a newspaper article and wanted to paint him. “My next painting will be the Detroit landscape. I was downtown and saw a picture of it. I can’t wait to do that one.” Ryan notices everything and then has a vision for how he can paint it,” shares Katherine, Lochdale’s home manager.
Ryan has worked cleaning apartments in Livonia for several years. He loves to cook, and eat, especially spaghetti. His favorite groups are Everly Brothers, Journey and the Righteous Brothers and he loves listening to WOMC.
Next time you see Ryan, ask him to do the voices of Elvis or Grover from Sesame Street. We thought the “king” was in the room. We’re hoping Ryan will share a few of these voices at the Resident’s Talent Show on March 24 at Brother Rice High School.
Everyone is welcomed to attend the talent show held from 1-3.
